CREW LEADER
Limited Duration Position

The Job Council is recruiting for one part-time (up to 25 hours a week) Crew Leader to join our in-school service-learning program based out of the Central Medford High School. The Crew Leader will join our collaborative leadership cohort, and work within a team of three to provide youth with applied education experiences. This is a Limited Duration, Range 11 ($14.34/hr.) position through June 30, 2011, with limited employee benefits. Continued funding may be available for summer 2011 and/or following program year).
The Crew Leader will provide mentoring, supervision and instruction for students in the classroom and during service learning projects in the community. Most of the service learning projects are outdoors, requiring physical labor in a variety of environments and temperatures including parks, forest service land, and community sites. Crew Leaders will transport students daily using program vehicles.
Crew leaders will provide direct service such as barrier resolution, life skills training, and job coaching to students engaged in service learning training activities. Crew Leaders will work alongside students in a variety of projects providing strength-based role modeling and coaching on job readiness and training. Crew leaders will participate in tracking project outcomes, writing client narratives, and assist in report writing as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of promising and/or best practices in working with at-risk youth (15 – 20).
- Experience with alternative learners.
- Familiar with service-learning models and is able to supervise youth projects and provide instruction relating to academic concepts.
- Experience implementing curriculum.
- Comfortable maintaining existing partnerships with numerous organizations within the Rogue Valley, and is willing to forge new partnership and initiate new youth service projects.
- Graduation from an accredited two-year college with major course work in science, non-traditional teaching or related field and one year of experience with youth, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Required Qualifications: Must have valid Oregon Driver’s License, excellent driving record, pass criminal background check, and pass regular drug testing.
